6. The extras earned by members of the Police Force are con- -siderable; they are those (1) paid by private individuals and (2) those paid by Government. Of these paid by private individuals, they are made of by attendance at Theatres, Cinematograph Theatres, special watch on steamers with dangerous, valuable and other goods. Appendix C gives a list of these extras. The total amount comes to 837,452 or a little over £20 a year a head. Some of these allowances are for extra cost of rations, due to distance of residence and being on duty on patrol launches for periods up to 54 hours at a time.
